Reshit Da’at: The first century Messiahs.
On this Thursday (09), Brother Tiago Rangel, NDS presented the theme “The First Century Messiahs” during the Reshit Da’at Seminar that takes place every two weeks at the Ratisbonne (Jerusalem). In the presentation, Br. Tiago began by defining the word Messiah (the anointed one) and spoke about two types of anointing that occur frequently in the biblical literature: the practical (for medicinal purpose or demonstration of hospitality) and religious (as in the case of anointing of prophets, kings and priests).
He also spoke about the Messiah’s own attributes, as well as citing a few examples of characters from the first centuries who were regarded as messiahs for a particular audience, including: Astronges, Simon bar Giora, Menakem ben Hezekiah.
The seminar was attended by brothers, sisters and novices of Sion, as well as other religious and friends.
