Sion Brothers celebrate birth anniversary of Fr. Alphonse.
On the last Monday (May 1st), the religious of Sion celebrated the birth anniversary of Fr. M. Alphonse Ratisbonne. 203 years ago, the founder of the Congregation of Our Lady of Sion was born in the city of Strasbourg (France).
The occasion was celebrated in the Ipiranga house, Sao Paulo. The Juniorate of Sion was responsible for the organization and invited the religious of the other houses of the region. “As today is May 1, the anniversary of the birth of Fr. Alphonse; and May 6 is the anniversary of death, we, from Juniorate’s house, organized the gathering of the religious here in Sao Paulo and invited all the houses,” says Br. Maycon Custodio, NDS.
There was an exhibition of photos of several Sion religious from the past and the present from the Archives of the Congregation. Fr. Valdenicio Antonio, NDS presided over the Mass that was followed by lunch. Check out the photos below:
