Shalom Moscovitz: the biblical stories painter
The famous Israeli painter Yossel Bergner, who lived in Safet (Israel) in 60’s, was the one who discovered Shalom Moscovitz.
Interested on little drawings found in a small toy-store, Yossel started his searching for the anonymous artist and, finally, he found him, Shalom, who was working as watchmaker so far.
YosseI has suggested him to stop working with watchers and start working with painting, as it seemed to be his great talent. Doing so, Shalom became a famous painter of the city of Safet.
Bible lover, Shalom develops a unique paint style: All of his paintings display short episodes of biblical stories. Beside each character of the painting, Shalom writes short excepts from Torah.
Shalom didn’t know the great styles of painting. They are simple, strong and independent colors, which makes it even more original.
