Echad Mi Yodea: the Jewish song for Pesach.

Echad Mi Yodea: the Jewish song for Pesach.

As the Jews are celebrating Pesach (Passover) during this week, we decided to bring an interesting element that is present in the liturgy. The Echad Mi Yodea (Hebrew: אחד מי יודע) is a traditional cumulative song sung at Passover and that is found in the Haggadah. It lists common aspects of Jewish teaching.

The melody was created to be fun and humorous, but also awakens the attention of children present in the Paschal Seder to important lessons of the tradition.

The recitation varies from family to family. It is sometimes sung as a challenge to memory, to be recited by heart and sometimes the goal is to recite the entire verse in one breath.
